Something for everyone: the hiking areas in the Montafon

Whether pleasure hikes or sporty summit climbs – you can tailor a hiking holiday in the Montafon to your wishes. The seven hiking areas offer varied tours for every taste.

In the months of summer, Silvretta Montafon is just as varied as it is in winter. The panoramic view of 200 summits welcomes you on the Hochjoch. On a clear day, you might even sneak a peek at Lake Constance. Hiking trails of varying difficulties and well-developed cycling and mountain bike routes are waiting for you. Regale yourself in style at the mountain restaurant Nova Stoba at an altitude of 2,010 m.

Ascend via the Versettla Bahn in Gaschurn or the Garfrescha Bahn in St. Gallenkirch.

The Bewegungsberg Golm is one of the most popular family destinations in the Rätikon. The activity programmes on the mountain, in particular, are particularly popular with younger hikers. The Alpin-Coaster Golm is the summer toboggan run in dizzying heights in the Montafon. Vorarlberg’s largest high rope forest course is located on the Bewegungsberg Golm and features special courses for children. Brave mountaineers are crazy about the Flying Fox: sweep across the barrier lake Labschau on a wire rope in no time.

Ascend via the Golmerbahn in just a few minutes.

Opposites attract on the Schafberg. Easy hikes allow for insights and views of a very special kind. Virgin nature and fascinating mountain formations encourage you to focus on the essentials of life. Primary rock and lime join alpenroses and orchids resulting in experiences in nature and moments of happiness up high for you.

    Ascend via the Gargellner Bergbahnen.

From the Silbertal, the Kristbergbahn brings you up to the Montafon nature and hiking park, where you enjoy the panoramic view across the Rätikon and the Verwallgebirge. 200 km of marked hiking trails – 25 of which are suitable for children’s push chairs – get you going. Cyclists discover the Kristberg on 80 km of biking routes. Get even closer to nature with the guided educational forest tours and the research trail.

    Ascend via the Kristbergbahn Silbertal.

Known to many because of the Silvretta-Bike-Safari and the Europatreppe4000, the Bielerhöhe is the highest destination in the Montafon.

Ascend via the Vermuntbahn from Vandans.

The Tafamunt at an altitude of more than 1,500 m is small and exclusive and therefore a pristine diamond for those seeking tranquillity. Idyllic alpine panorama and lush pastures are great for relaxing. The raised bog scenery at the Wiegensee is particularly interesting.

Ascend via the Tafamuntbahn from Schruns–Rodund.

Combine two of your favourite pastimes when hiking in the Montafon: hiking and fishing. The Lünerseebahn, as the name implies, leads hikers directly to the alpine Lünersee. Enjoy both fishing and a mountain view beyond compare at an altitude of almost 2,000 m.

Ascend via the Lünerseebahn from Schruns.

Pleasure hiking: cabin tips by Hotel Löwen

As multifaceted as the hiking region in the Montafon is, as multifaceted are the cabins around Hotel Löwen. There’s one thing all cabins have in common: they are rustic, cosy, and time passes way too quickly during a visit. The cabins in the Montafon offer broad gastronomic variety. Some cook simple and select dishes while others offer extensive menus – even with vegetarian dishes. Once you’ve decided on a certain cabin, all you need to know now is when meals are being served. As cabins usually don’t offer dishes a la carte after 5 pm, it is advisable to show up a bit earlier.

We are looking forward to welcoming you warmly to the Löwen Hotel in Schruns. We are happy to help you plan your hiking holiday in the Montafon.
